First Look: Marble Room Steak And Raw Bar
When the Marble Room Steak and Raw Bar opens its doors downtown, it will immediately rise to the top tier of Cleveland's most impressive dining venues. The spectacular restaurant is taking shape in the historic banking hall of the Garfield Building at E. Sixth and Euclid. More recently, National City Bank, the immaculately preserved interior would become the home of Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse. When that deal fell through, there was no doubt who would step in to take his place. "There's too much at stake - you can't mess it all up," says Malisse Sinito, who, along with her husband Frank, will be the ones to build and operate the Marble Room (623 Euclid Ave.). The commercial offices above the restaurant are being converted into apartments. reduction of private spaces. Booth seats will be tucked between the columns on both sides of the room. "You'll feel like you have some privacy," Sinito says. In between, there will be more tables, chairs, and booths. Downstairs, bank vaults and safes will be able to handle multiple private events. When news of Jeff Ruby's arrival broke, the response was almost unanimous. So I asked Sinito the question. "I agree," she said. What would you do with it?" "With a space like this, you can only go one way and it's high end," she continues. Not heavy. "For those who don't don't want a big juicy USDA Prime porter, there will be freshly shucked oysters on the half-shell, fresh-cut sushi, small plates and lots of seafood, Sinito assures us. “For people who don't want to come in for a steak, you can come in and sit in the lounge and have oysters or sushi or small plates and a cocktail. It's not just beef.” The menu and the kitchen will be overseen by Alberto Leandri, the Venice-born chef who has served as executive chef at Lockkeepers for the past four years. The steakhouse's classic entrees and sides will be given a modern twist. As you descend the sweeping brass-railed marble stairs of the turn-of-the-century building, we pass ornate light fixtures, under polished stone arches, through gilded doors, and out to the heavy bank vault door, now permanently ajar." Can you imagine recreating it all? this now?" asks Sinito. How To Cook Steaks Like The Marble Room
